The poster-girl for girl power, Vidya Balan has encapsulated the entire nation and beyond with her amazing choice of roles and hard-hitting performances. Tumhari sulu was another masterpiece by her and catered a lot of applauds. She makes it a point to deliver such performances which reinstall our faith in her. One of the actresses who has made acting a little less commercial and shifted the attention from glamour to actual acting, we couldn’t opt for a better option to portray the first female prime minister of our nation. Vidya recently announced that she got the rights to Sagarika Ghosh’s Indira – India’s most powerful prime minister.

The makers and Vidya are still to confirm if it will be turned into a TV show or a movie. The actress recently announced, “I am happy to have acquired the rights to Sagarika Ghose`s Indira - India`s Most Powerful Prime Minister because I have always wanted to play Indira Gandhi. I haven`t decided yet whether it should be a film or a web series, but that will take a while anyway," reported IANS. It is gonna be the Biopic by Vidya Balan.

The author of the book Sagarika stated that she is very happy to have associated with Vidya and her husband Siddharth Roy Kapoor who owns the production house which is reportedly working towards the production of the film. In this movie, we find Vidya Balan as Indira Gandhi.

Twitter was flooded with comments and congratulatory messages for all the people involved in the project. Sagarika responded with an even more intriguing and exciting reply where she stated that if Vidya is portrayed as Indira then Akshay Khanna would make a good option to play the character of Feroze Gandhi.


Vidya Balan won the national award for her performance in the movie The Dirty Picture for portraying the character of Silk Smita, the sex icon of South.
